About SLT
Children are referred to us by parents or schools or other professions
for a variety of reasons. Some of these include,
Phonology/Pronunciation:
• Difficulties saying their words clearly
• Difficulties being understood by others
Receptive Language:
• Difficulties understanding language, what people say to
them
• Difficulties remembering language
• Difficulties understanding vocabulary
Expressive Language:
• Lack of real words in speech
• Difficulties using language- words, phrases and sentences
• Difficulties using grammar
• Difficulties using word endings, -er, -s plural etc.
Social and Emotional Language and Behaviour:
• Difficulties playing with their peers
• Difficulties sitting down and paying attention
• Difficulties using toys appropriately
• Difficulties using or understanding other’s non-verbal
communication and expressions
Fluency:
• Stammering/ stuttering
Voice or Resonance disorders:
• Difficulties with pitch, volume, rate of speech or the
quality of the voice that distract listeners from what is being
said.
